Most catalogs have a gap where the newest pieces should be. A lot comes in, or a customer approves a made-to-order design, and the listing waits for photos nobody has had time to take.

September's release fills much of that gap, starting from the item record you already keep. An item's details can now draw its first catalog image, and one main image can become 10 product shots. Component costs link to hundreds of items from one spreadsheet, and Shopify picks up photos and product details without retyping. On the production side, every item now shows which stage lost material.

    Product images

From no photo to 10 product shots

Generate a catalog image when there's no photo

Open the image editor on an item or product with no image, such as a lot that arrived this morning or a made-to-order design, and choose Generate image with AI. It draws a square 2K image on white from the type, shape, color, attributes, and storefront description already on the record. If the first one misses, choose Try another.

The editor also lets you zoom in and drag to frame any image, and Save cropped image keeps the crop.

Before and after: a lab-grown diamond tennis bracelet with no image yet and the Generate image with AI button, then the AI catalog image of the bracelet on white with Try another and Discard.
A tennis bracelet record with no photo, and the catalog image drawn from its details. The main image changes only when you save.

Check the image against the piece, and swap in a real photo once you have one.

    Relight the photo you have

Professional plans now get the full AI image studio. Four backgrounds join White and Black: Off-White, Midnight Blue, Chocolate Brown, and Beige/Ecru. The two dark ones make metal and stones stand out. You can add a Soft or Medium ground shadow, then relight the product with Soft studio, Natural window, Hard contrast, or Dramatic rim lighting.

The studio works in the inventory, product, and line item image editors. Our guide to AI product photography covers how it keeps the product's own detail while the background changes.

The AI image studio options: White, Black, Beige/Ecru, Off-White, Midnight Blue, and Chocolate Brown backgrounds, ground shadow and lighting sliders, and the Make image studio-like using AI button.

The video is on someone's phone, and the close-ups are buried in a chat thread. Media Gallery keeps them on the item, ready when a customer asks. Open it on any inventory item or product, drop in photos and videos, add captions, and drag them into order. Links to YouTube and Vimeo videos, PDFs, and CAD files work too.

The Media Gallery post walks through it in detail.

Turn the main image into 10 scenes

In Media Gallery, choose Generate product shots with AI, then Generate 10 shots. Loupe Factory plans 10 scenes from the item's main image, storefront description, and product name, and renders each one with the main image as its reference. About two minutes later, all 10 are in the gallery, each captioned with its scene.

All 10 AI product shots of the same gold chandelier earrings, each in a different scene: by a stone pedestal, on a brass tray of loose stones, lifted from a velvet case, on white blocks, held up to a mirror, on sunlit sandstone, by a velvet pouch, in window light, on a side table, and in a curved line of pairs.
All 10 shots from one main image, the same set the laptop at the top of this post shows in Media Gallery.

One puts the piece next to a stone pedestal. Another shows a hand lifting it from a velvet case. Each shot is 2K in a 4:3 frame, which leaves room to crop it square for a storefront or wider for a line sheet. A set uses about 400 AI credits, roughly $4 at the top-up rate.

AI can change small details. Check each shot against the real piece before it goes out, especially stones and engravings.

    Shopify

Take Shopify orders for pieces you'll make or restock

A made-to-order piece is out of stock by definition, and it still needs to be for sale. In Shopify sync, turn on Continue selling when out of stock, then choose Push under Products and stock. Customers can then buy those variants with no stock on hand. The switch is off by default, and with it off, each variant keeps its current Shopify setting.

Made-to-order wording and delivery estimates live in your Shopify theme, so set those up there to tell customers when to expect the piece.

    • Retail Price syncs with compare-at price

Retail Price in Loupe Factory now syncs with Shopify's compare-at price, so both systems keep the same reference price.

    • Shopify's categories and colors in settings

Settings now list the matching Shopify categories and color names, so your team can label products the way Shopify expects.

    • Product details in variant metafields

Size, shape, quality, and product labels go to each variant's custom fields, which Shopify calls metafields, without anyone typing them again.

    • Photos without a second upload

Inventory photos push to the Shopify product gallery and the matching variants. The main image stays the variant photo, and Media Gallery photos follow in gallery order.

The Shopify sync page, connected to a store, with Pull and Push for customers, orders, and products and stock. Continue selling when out of stock is switched on under Products and stock.

    Imports

Decide what AI keeps, fills, or revises

Plenty of sheets have descriptions you've already approved next to labels nobody filled in. Advanced options in Import Inventory using AI now let you treat those columns differently.

Open Advanced options before you choose the spreadsheet, and set a level for product labels, product types, colors, storefront descriptions, and your industry's attributes. AI maps and cleans every other column as usual.

Advanced options in Import Inventory using AI, with a level slider for Product Label set to Fill blanks, Product Type and Color set to Revise all, Storefront Description set to Exact, and Attributes set to Fill blanks, each with a note on what that level does.
Each column gets its own level. Here the sheet's approved descriptions stay exact while AI fills missing labels and attributes.
What each AI level does to a cell in the columns you set
Your sheet Exact Fill blanks Revise all
Cell has a value Kept as written Kept as written AI can rewrite it
Cell is empty Stays empty AI can fill it AI can fill it

So you can keep approved descriptions exactly as written while AI fills in missing labels, or standardize chosen fields across the whole sheet. The preview shows the result before you confirm. It marks new product types with a New badge and adds them when you confirm. A color missing from your Colors list stays on the item as written, and your list doesn't change.

    Costing

Link component costs to hundreds of items in one upload

Linking cost components used to mean opening one item at a time. In the Component Rate Center, Bulk link from spreadsheets now reads a whole sheet instead. Each row is one item, matched by Tag ID, with up to 20 components. A component names an existing rate profile, such as Gold 18K, says how much one piece uses, and sets how its rate behaves.

    Live
Follows the market rate. Metal profiles only.
    Locked
Keeps the rate fixed at a point in time.
    Manual apply
Waits for an admin to apply a new rate. A blank cell means Manual apply.

Link gold to a Live profile and that component follows the market rate on every piece in the sheet. Download the template for the columns, upload the sheet, and review every match before you save. Exact names cost nothing. A name your sheet spells differently is matched by AI once per distinct name, so a sheet usually costs a credit or two.

The Bulk link cost components dialog at the Upload step, with a drop zone for an XLSX, XLS, or CSV file and the columns the sheet needs: Tag ID, Component Type, Component Name, Component Quantity/Weight Per Piece, and Rate Price Behaviour.
The upload step lists the columns the sheet needs. Review and Link follow.

    Production

See which stage is losing material

When a lot's yield comes in low, the next question is where the material went. On every inventory item, the Inventory Flow by Type cards now keep current stock apart from production history. You see what's on hand right now, rejected and scrap stock included, then what you issued, what came back, and your yield.

Put your next batch through it

The next batch that comes in is a good test. Try it in this order.

    1. Import it with Advanced options set

In All Inventory, open Import Inventory using AI and expand Advanced options before you choose the file. If your descriptions are approved, set Storefront Description to Exact and Product Label to Fill blanks.

    2. Link its costs from one sheet

In the Component Rate Center, choose Bulk link from spreadsheets, download the template, and fill in one row per Tag ID. Check the matches before you save.

    3. Give every piece a picture

Generate a catalog image for anything without a photo. On Professional or above, open Media Gallery on your best piece and generate 10 product shots.

    4. Check its yield after the first jobs

Once the batch has been through production, open an item and click its card under Inventory Flow by Type. Look for the stage with the most waste.

    FAQ

    Common questions

Open Media Gallery on an inventory item or product, choose Generate product shots with AI, then Generate 10 shots. Loupe Factory plans 10 different scenes from the item's main image, storefront description, and product name, then renders each one with the main image as its reference. All 10 land in the gallery in about two minutes, at 2K in a 4:3 frame.

Professional, Business, and Enterprise. A set of 10 uses about 400 AI credits, roughly $4 at the $0.01 top-up rate, and Professional includes 3,000 AI credits a month. AI can change small details, so check each shot against the real piece before it goes out, especially stones and engravings.

Yes. Open the image editor on an item or product with no image and choose Generate image with AI. It draws a square 2K image on a white background from the type, shape, color, attributes, and storefront description already on the record. It works on every plan and uses about 30 AI credits an image. Check it against the piece, and swap in a real photo once you have one.

Professional plans now get the full studio: Off-White, Midnight Blue, Chocolate Brown, and Beige/Ecru backgrounds, Soft or Medium ground shadows, and four lighting styles, which are Soft studio, Natural window, Hard contrast, and Dramatic rim. Starter keeps White and Black. A shadow runs as a second AI edit and uses about twice the credits, while lighting runs in the same edit as the background.

In Shopify sync, turn on Continue selling when out of stock, then push Products and stock. Customers can then buy those variants with no stock on hand, which suits pieces you will make or restock. The switch is off by default, and with it off each variant keeps its current Shopify setting. Add made-to-order wording and delivery estimates in your Shopify theme. Shopify sync is included on Professional and above.

Retail Price syncs with Shopify's compare-at price. Size, shape, quality, and product labels go to each variant's metafields. Inventory photos push to the Shopify product gallery and the matching variants, with the main image as the variant photo and Media Gallery photos after it in gallery order. Settings also list the matching Shopify categories and color names.

In the Component Rate Center, choose Bulk link from spreadsheets and upload one sheet, with one row per item matched by Tag ID. Each row can link up to 20 existing rate profiles, such as metal, stones, labor, and packaging, with the quantity or weight one piece uses and a rate behavior of Live, Locked, or Manual apply. You review every match before saving. A sheet holds up to 500 item rows, and one save links up to 2,500 components. Admin access is required.

Only for names that don't match exactly. A name that matches a rate profile exactly costs nothing. A name the sheet spells differently is matched by AI once per distinct name, so a sheet usually costs a credit or two.

They set how much AI may change a column. Exact copies the sheet as written. Fill blanks keeps what the sheet says and fills only empty cells. Revise all lets AI rewrite every row. Under Advanced options you can set them separately for product labels, product types, colors, storefront descriptions, and your industry's attributes, and you preview the result before confirming.

Every inventory item has Inventory Flow by Type cards. Each card keeps stock on hand now, including rejected and scrap stock, apart from production history: what was issued, what came back, and the yield. Click a card to pin the full breakdown, with received, rejected, scrapped, and wasted totals for each stage. Yield is received weight divided by issued weight, and admins and managers can export each breakdown as a CSV.
